Job Summary

The School of Education at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks a full-time tenure track faculty member at the assistant or early associate level in the Equity, Bilingualism, and Biliteracy (EBB) program in the education of bilingual learners beginning in the 2025-26 academic year. We seek to hire faculty who are committed to addressing educational challenges in Colorado, the United States, and the world through thoughtfully selected and enacted methodological and theoretical perspectives. This colleague will join our internationally recognized faculty whose deep commitment to equity and justice is reflected through our contributions to research, policy, and practice.

The EBB program area includes a Ph.D. program with an emphasis on the education of culturally and linguistically diverse students and the education of students with disabilities as well as endorsement, dual endorsement, and non-endorsement Master of Arts programs in Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education/Special Education. We also teach courses for the undergraduate major in elementary education (with a Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education endorsement), secondary education, and other programs in the School of Education and the University. Candidates must be willing to contribute to teaching and program development in the teacher education and EBB programs, and they must be committed to educational equity and justice for culturally and linguistically diverse populations.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The workload for this position includes Teaching, Advising & Mentoring (40%), Research, Scholarly & Creative Work (40%) and Leadership & Service (20%)

Tenured and tenure-track faculty in the School of Education demonstrate evidence of strong teaching and mentoring and are expected to contribute to our teacher education, master's, and doctoral programs; advise undergraduate students; mentor graduate students; and provide outreach and leadership to the local, school, campus, and larger communities. Additionally, our faculty maintain an active and innovative research agenda and corresponding publication record that reveals a thoughtful and compelling progression of scholarship.

What We Can Offer

This open rank, tenure-track faculty position will be filled at either the assistant or beginning associate professor level. Rank is determined by years of experience and accomplishments. Full-time academic year salary range: assistant professor is $80-92k; associate professor $92-100K. Salary can be paid out over 9 or 12 months. Additional opportunities for teaching and research/creative work or service projects up to 3/9ths of AY salary may be available during the summer. Benefits remain active over summer. Relocation and start up funding is available in accordance with University policies and the School's guidelines.

What We Require

PhD (conferred by August 2025) in bilingual education, educational linguistics, language and literacy or a related field.
Scholar with expertise and teaching experience in PK-12 bilingual learner education in U.S. public schools.

What You Will Need

Candidate employs rigorous and theoretically grounded research approaches for understanding and improving the educational experiences of bilingual children and youth in U.S. public schools.
Candidate's research critically engages with issues of learning, diversity, and equity that underlie language practices and policies as they play out in broader social, cultural, historical, political, and economic contexts in the U.S.
