Job Summary

Responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of ESL classes to a diverse student body. This position plays a crucial role in managing and guiding instructors, designing curriculum, assessing learning outcomes, and providing support to students from various cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. Collaborates closely with Leadership to ensure the program's success and alignment with university goals.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: -
1. Manages a team of Intensive English Program Instructors, ensuring effective teaching of all levels and skills of ESL classes
2. Reviews and designs program curriculum and instructional materials to meet the evolving needs of the program and students
3. Develops and assigns class schedules, taking into consideration student needs and instructor availability
4. Evaluates learning outcomes and advises IEP students on academic progress and options for retention or progression to KSU matriculation
5. Provides academic counseling and support services to address students' language learning needs
6. Collaborates with the Leadership to implement program goals and objectives, including budgetary considerations
7. Assists in program administration tasks, including student registration, program marketing, and reporting
8. Acts as a liaison between instructors, students, and university administration to resolve any issues that may arise
9. Assists in program marketing and recruiting with both local populations and international students
10. Coordinates with campus offices, including Global Education, Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Auxiliary Services, and UITS, to maintain IEP student services and increase student matriculation to KSU

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.

Required Experience
Five (5) years of experience in ESL/EFL teaching and program management.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of international education and cultural sensitivity.

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience
Previous experience in English language instruction, preferably in an intensive English program.
Experience working with diverse student populations.
Experience living, studying or working in a country outside the US or experience living, studying or working in the US as a foreign national.
Previous experience in higher education administration.
Experience with program accreditation and compliance.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

KNOWLEDGE
Fluency in a designated language may be required to assist students in the assigned program, providing additional support to those facing language barriers
Knowledge of F-1 student process and SEVIS regulations governing clock-hour programs
Knowledge of best practices in IEP curriculum and student services

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
